Kanye West’s reputation as the most controlling man in showbiz is not unfounded. With a fortune that exceeds $100million and possibly the most recognisable wife and child on the planet, Kanye is constantly on edge about his family’s safety. Who could forget when Ukrainian prankster Vitalii Sediuk almost knocked Kim Kardashian to the ground during Paris Fashion Week?
It was no joke to Kanye and in an exclusive interview with heat – in this week’s magazine – the superstar’s stepbrother, Hal Carmichael, reveals how the death of Kanye’s mother Donda in 2007 – following cosmetic surgery – drives his obsession with protecting his family.
At the time, he blamed himself, saying, "When I moved to LA, she moved to LA. And she wound up in a place that would eat her alive. If I had stayed in New York, it wouldn't have been like that... she'd still be here."
Now Kanye will do anything to stop Kim and North from coming to harm.
“Kanye constantly worries about Kim and North because he knows the kidnap risk is high," says Hal, 41. "Because of the lifestyle they lead, he has to think about it carefully nowadays. Kanye controls kim, like where she travels and what she does, to protect her. He thinks the more the public see of them, the more at risk they are."
