Super-excellent news for fans of the Twilight saga – chief vampire author Stephenie Meyer has written a BRAND NEW BOOK to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her first novel, and this time the roles of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan are reversed.
That’s right – Life And Death: Twilight Reimagined will be told from the perspective of a sullen chap called Beau and detail the weirdly chaste yet lustful relationship he builds with lady-vampire Edythe. Which is an excellent name for a lady-vampire, tbh. Hopefully she goes around wearing Victorian-style nightgowns and sips tea from bone china from time to time.

Speaking about the new novel – which features a hand holding a green apple on the front cover, instead of the usual red one we normally see on her books – Stephenie explained that she only wrote it to hit back at the critics who point out that Bella is a bit of a wet blanket.
“My answer to that has always been that Bella is a ‘human in distress’, a normal human being surrounded on all sides by people who are basically superheroes and villains,” she said.

“She’s also been criticised for being too consumed with her love interest, as if that's somehow just a girl thing. I’ve always maintained that it would have made no difference if the human were male and vampire female — it’s still the same story.
“[So] I thought to myself, ‘Well, what if I put that theory to the test? That might be fun.’”

Definitely fun, and in no way because you needed the cash, multi-millionaire author Stephenie Meyer. Right-o then.
The bad news? There are no plans to turn Life And Death into another chapter of the Twilight movie franchise. Which, actually – if you’re Kristen Stewart at least – is probably for the best.
