Most people would be a bit gutted to hear that they had been nominated in a category for ‘worst band’ by one of the UK’s most influential music magazine- but not 5 Seconds Of Summer!
The band won a coveted American Music Award earlier this year and have a massive following, but it turns out the 5SOS boys value EVERY award they’re nominated for. Even the ones that are a bit mean.
Guitarist Michael Clifford took to Twitter to share the news with his fans, writing: HOLY SHIT WE GOT NOMINATED FOR WORST BAND AT THE NME AWARDS. pls pls pls vote. I'm not even being sarcastic it would be so incredible to win
The very mature Luke Hemmings simply wrote: “Everyone's got an opinion.”
The boys are in pretty good company, though, nominated alongside their idols Blink 182 and good pals One Direction.
Since they’ve asked their fans to get behind them and vote, we’re almost certain they might be walking away with their first NME Award!
