Ex-EastEnders and very-much-current Ackley Bridge star Paul Nicholls is recovering in hospital in Thailand after being found trapped in the jungle for three days with a broken leg.

Paul (who played Joe Wicks in 'Enders, remember?) has admitted he's 'lucky to be alive' after falling from a waterfall on the island of Koh Samui and remaining there for days without food or water; only to be discovered by locals who noticed his abandoned motorbike by Khun Si Falls.

Speaking to The Sun, Paul said he's 'lucky to be alive' adding: "It took such a long time to find me. It’s an understatement to say it wasn’t a great situation.

"It wasn’t that I was lost. The problem was I couldn’t move to get out of there. I’ve got a broken leg and I’m missing a kneecap. It needs complete reconstruction."

After rescuers pulled Paul from the undergrowth he was taken to Koh Samui hospital within two hours, before transferring elsewhere after being told it'd cost a casual £90,000 to treat him.

A source close to Paul said: "The British Embassy want to fly him back here.

"They need to fly him to the mainland first to a proper hospital and then decide whether to bring him back to the UK or do the surgery there."

BLIMEY. Get well soon, Paul.
