Is Adele putting her career at risk for love?

Could she be heading for another set of cancelled shows?

She recently promised that her scrapped Vegas shows were “absolutely 100 per cent happening this year”. But just over a month since she postponed her entire residency indefinitely amid reports of creative disagreements and rows with boyfriend Rich Paul, Adele’s apparently antsy at the thought of rescheduling – which isn’t going down well with her management team.

According to insiders, the promoters are keen for the singer to conquer Sin City this summer with a triumphant set of shows, but she’s apparently still nervous about how performing – and being away from Rich – might affect their relationship, and she’s digging her heels in.

“Adele is already worrying over rescheduling the Vegas dates,” says an insider close to the 33 year old, who appeared to announce her engagement last month by sporting a massive diamond on her ring finger.

“Her team are worried that history will repeat itself if things don’t improve. She’s had more than enough time to reschedule, but she still feels as though she needs more time to make sure that she and Rich are in the best place, and she’s anxious the stress of a Vegas show could get in the way of that.”

The mum of one risked damaging her career for good earlier this year after cancelling her Vegas residency just 24 hours before the first concert was due to take place, blaming delivery and COVID delays and tearily telling fans, “[It] just ain’t ready.”

At the time, insiders claimed that she was at loggerheads with the set designer and had also been overheard arguing over the phone with her boyfriend of a year. Since scrapping the gigs, she’s put on defiant appearances at the BRITs and The Graham Norton Show (where she hinted that she wanted to have a baby next year), but she’s mostly been spotted with sports agent Rich at basketball games.

Louise and Jamie Redknapp

They were the British A-list couple that we thought would last but the world was stunned in July 2017 when Louise and Jamie Redknapp confirmed they'd split after 19 years together. Months later Louise opened up about the end of her marriage and following the end of the Redknapp marriage, it was reported that celebrities were refusing to sign up to the BBC show because of the Strictly curse.

Now, we’re told, music bosses are worried that she’s putting her love life above her career; and with sales of her latest album not as good as they could be in comparison to her previous albums, we’re told she’s risking losing her massive following forever.

“Her management have told Adele that if she delays the Vegas gigs any further, she’s going to upset her fanbase even more,” says our source. “She could also face a public backlash that she’ll struggle to recover from. The record company understandably want her to start promoting her music and begin planning a spectacular show.”

The source adds, “It seems as if she’s been putting off important career decisions because she’s finding it hard to focus on work, instead of on her relationship. Rich makes her feel safe, while the thought of getting back onstage terrifies her.”
