After a shocking video showing American rapper Afroman punching a woman to the floor at a live gig swept the internet, Afroman has apologised – but he still thinks his alleged victim is to partially to blame.

Speaking in a TMZ video, the* Because I Got High* star said he was enrolling in inpatient anger management rehab.

"I wanna apologise for my actions," he started. "I love my fans, I try to get there early these days to meet and greet them.

"It was an early show – I usually play at night after I've had my dinner, I medicate … I had to walk, like, half a mile to get to the place," he went on.

Afroman then blames a heckler who was "yelling obscenities from the side of the stage" before turning his attention to two women who got up there next to him.

"I asked them to leave, I was trying to keep rapping. One girl left, I thought both of them had left, but the guy was still over there hollering from the side of the stage," he continued.

"When people get on stage, you don't really know what they're doing. You don't know what's going to happen next."

"It was wrong," he added.

Yesterday, Afroman's rep said the musician didn't know whether the stage invader was male or female before he unleashed his punch, adding that the security at the concert venue was lapse in keeping people away from Afroman.
