**Strictly Come Dancing **star and former winner of **The X Factor **Alexandra Burke has paid tribute to her late mum in an emotional post on her Instagram page.
Alexandra's mum sadly passed away in August last year, just before Alexandra was due to take part on Strictly Come Dancing. The singer announced the sad news on her Twitter account at the time, writing,** '**It is with the heaviest and saddest of hearts that the family inform you our beautiful, funny and loving mum, Melissa Bell has passed away. Our beautiful mother gained her wings on Monday 28th August 2017, a day that has changed our lives forever.' [sic]
Five months on, Alexandra has paid a touching tribute to her mum by posting a photo of the pair together on Instagram.
Documenting how much she misses Melissa, the 29-year-old wrote, 'If I had one wish.. 😢 😔', to accompany the photo of Alexandra kissing her mum on the cheek.
The 'Bad Boys' singer then shared another snap with her stunning mother, writing, '#TB 😔'.
Alexandra then shared a photo with some touching words on as she wrote, 'I love and miss you Mummy'.
Fans of the singer were quick to comment on the photos showing their support for Alexandra. One user wrote, 'Awwww #AlexanderBurke (((((((Hugs)))))) you made her proud must be smiling in heaven over you❤' [sic], with another adding, 'This is a precious picture for your family. It's such a clear photo of your faces together. Don't be afraid to grieve in your own way and in your own time x'. [sic]
Another then wrote, 'Your mum will always be with @alexandramusic & she will always be proud of you whatever you do. It's a lovely picture of you both xx' [sic]
Alexandra announced her engagement to her partner Joshua Ginnelly at the beginning of the week, something she would loved to have shared with her mum.
Announcing her happy news on Instagram, Alexandra shared a cute photo of the palm of her hand with the words 'I SAID YES' written on, as she showed off her amazing ring.
Confirming the moment happened on the 18th December 2017 in Paris, Alexandra wrote a touching message about her news.
She wrote, '18-12- 17. I said YES!
'Smiling as I type this because it was the best day ever in Paris and so unexpected. My soul mate and my love asked me something that I could only have dreamt of. Being in love is one of the most magical feelings life has to offer. So grateful for this amazing man in my life who has supported my family and I through so much.' [sic]
