Love Island 2017 winner Amber Davies has received backlash over a list of ‘new sex rules’ she’s set to tackle the debate over casual sex.

Amber joined BBC5 Live host Nihal Arthanayake to guest present a segment on his radio show discussing whether or not sex had become too casual.

Ahead of her appearance on the show, Amber recorded a video clip detailing her ‘five new rules for sex’, and not everyone is keen to heed Amber’s advice.

In the video Amber states: “Rule number one is no sex on the first date.”

She then goes onto explain: “If you don’t know the person don’t have sex with the person, it’s all about self-respect.”

The reality TV star went on to lift four more rules including: “If there is alcohol involved, ask yourself ‘are you going to regret it in the morning?’”, ‘don’t think sex is to impress,’ binning the term ‘no strings attached and finally, encouraging people not to follow the crowd when it comes to sex.

She ends the clip, saying: “Just because sex has become so casual these days, doesn’t mean you have to do it.”

Some Twitter users then criticised Amber for being hypocritical after having sex on TV with Kem Cetinay in the Love Island villa last summer. However, other’s branded Amber’s views and rules as ‘outdated.’

One person wrote: “The problem is NOT that she’s had sex on TV or “in broad daylight” (are you a strictly night time shagger??). It’s that the message is wonky & outdated.”

Another added: “Alright let me deconstruct this for you: 1. HAVE sex on the first date if that’s what you want to do. If it’s consensual and safe and you’re doing WHAT YOU WANT then you’re already respecting yourself.”

Another explained: "Having sex on the first date doesn't mean you don't have self-respect if both people consent,, y'all are adults and can do whatever you want we don't need this lady slut shaming anyone thx."

While speaking on the radio show, Amber opened up about her own experiences, revealing: "I thought I was in love. It wasn't like this one night stand, doing it on TV, you do forget the cameras are there.

"I do think reality TV has affected that because I know if I hadn't seen it on TV I probably wouldn't have done it.”

She’s also taken to Twitter to defend her stance on casual sex.

“Guys there is no wrong or right answer to casual sex. I was invited on to BBC five live to debate the matter. I am glad I had the opportunity to discuss this, and I've learnt a lot and it was great to hear people views and opinions!”
