Amy Schumer is having a proper rollercoaster of a week - first she got to announce the fact that she'll be playing Barbie in the live-action movie dedicated to the plastic icon, and then she got totally fat-shamed by a load of morons.

Yep.

Despite the fact that Amy is gorgeous, hilarious and a great actress who, by being cast as the title role, has made the prospect of a Barbie movie about 400 times more exciting than it would be with anyone else, haters still gonna hate.

"Barbie should be the definition of perfection" some complained, while others added that toy company Mattell were "ruining her image by letting Schumer be Barbie".

In response, Amy took to instagram with a heartfelt message that had us all riled up and wanting to get up on a chair or something. Sure, that wouldn't have done anything, but it just got us between the ribs you know?

"Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support and again my deepest sympathy goes out to the trolls who are in more pain than we will ever understand," she wrote in the caption to her Insta post.

"I want to thank them for making it so evident that I am a great choice. It's that kind of response that let's you know something's wrong with our culture and we all need to work together to change it."

That a brilliant woman like this has to defend the fact she'd been cast in anything, is annoying. She was offered the role, because she was right for the role - apparently the film is going for an Ella Enchanted vibe, as in, it's supposed to be funny. Who better to play Barbie in a comedy than Amy?

We, for one, cannot WAIT to see the film now.
