Is this ANOTHER blow for The Great British Bake Off?

It’s been a tough year…

Bake Off

We're so done with 2016. We've had to deal with the One Direction hiatus, Brad and Angelina's divorce and the end of The Great British Bake Off as we know it.

WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS, HUH?

If the move to Channel 4, the loss of baking queen Mary Berry and no more of Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins' hilarious innuendos wasn't enough, another potential host has ruled herself out of the Bake Off job.

And we had high hopes for this one.

Dawn French has said she will not be replacing Mel and Sue as host when the show moves over to Channel 4.

Bake Off

When asked if she would consider the Bake Off job, Dawn replied "absolutely not."

We'll take that as a no, then.

This latest blow comes after Dawn's partner in comedy crime, Jennifer Saunders denied claims that she would be filling the innuendo-filled shoes of the baking show's hosts on the other channel.

Bake Off

News that the comedy duo could be entering the famous Bake Off tent (will they even keep the tent on Channel 4?) was the teeniest silver lining in the GBBO sh*t storm we've been going through.

But now this last glimmer of hope has been squashed flatter than a dodgy meringue as Dawn and Jennifer have quickly shot down any rumours of their involvement.

Despite winning the The Great Comic Bake Off a few years ago, Jennifer took to Twitter earlier this month to shut down claims she'd be hosting the show.

"Its complete boll**ks that Dawn and I are 'lined up' to take over Great British Bake Off," she wrote.

But let's not get too devo about all this Bake Off heartbreak. Let's remember the good times.

This series brought us pure joy. Particularly in the forms of Val Stones and Selasi Gbormittah who, it turns out, are actually firm pals.

The two have been spending lots of time together since filming for the show ended.

Selasi even rode his motorbike all the way from London to Somerset to spend time with everyone's favourite pensioner.

And then there was his AMAZING final viewing party. Literally EVERYONE was there.

Our invite must have been lost in the post, eh Selasi?
