TV’s chirpiest double act have spoken out in response to the news that Louis Walsh is leaving the X Factor.
Talking exclusively to heat at the BAFTA Television Awards at the Theatre Royal, London, on Sunday night, the Saturday Night Takeaway presenters said: “Louis is like a piece of the X Factor furniture”.
It’s rumoured that Louis Walsh, who has been a judge on the talent show for an impressive 11 years, has been sacked by Simon Cowell, amid claims that viewers are getting tired of him.
It’s been reported that Simon broke the news to Louis in person, seemingly keen to avoid repeating any mistakes he's made in the past with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
Dec seemed to see the funny side of the news, though, insisting that the next X Factor judge has to be called Louis too, even quipping that it could be documentary maker Louis Theroux.
Echoing their success at last year’s ceremony, the duo picked up two awards at the ceremony, for best entertainment show and best entertainment performance for A_nt and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway_.
