Ant McPartlin has confirmed he is filing from wife Lisa Townend as it emerges she could get £31 million from their divorce.
The popular television host has had troubles with prescription medication in the past and checked into rehab in a bid to conquer his battles last year.
Ant confirmed he is filing for divorce from Lisa after 11 years of marriage late on Saturday night, claiming he needs to concentrate on his health.
The couple had known each other for a total of 23 years but when Ant checked into rehab it put a strain on their marriage.
A statement to the Mirror read: "In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after 11 years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin.
“Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families.
"No further statement will be made.”
According to the Sun On Sunday, Ant made the ultimate decision to end his union with Lisa as he felt he had no other option but to concentrate on his health.
"It hasn’t happened overnight, they have been having problems for ages.
"The marriage has effectively been struggling for eight months — he’s given it a good go.
“They’ve met up and spoken about it a number of times and this is the decision he has made.
“They are getting divorced. He is obviously really upset about it.”
The couple held crisis talks in a bid to save their marriage at the end of last year but they unfortunately did not help.
Lisa spent the Christmas and New Year period away from her estranged husband and with her mother last year.
