Ant McPartlin has been fined £86,000 and handed a 20 month road ban after pleading guilty to drink driving this afternoon.

He was involved in a crash in Richmond, south London, on 21 March – and was arrested after failing a breathalyser test.

Ant appeared today at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to one charge of drink driving.

The court heard that he had 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; more than twice the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres.

In a letter read out in court, Ant said he 'accepts full responsibility' and he let himself 'and so many others down;' admitted he's been left 'ashamed and mortified' by his actions.

Ant has pulled out of foreseeable TV commitments, and ITV released a statement soon after his arrest reading: "ITV has taken a joint decision with Ant and Dec’s team not to broadcast Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend.

"We will be reviewing options for the last two episodes of the series (March 31 and April 7) which would not feature Ant who is taking time off to seek treatment. We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs."

Dec Donnelly is confirmed to be hosting the upcoming Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals alone.

An ITV rep said: "Dec will be hosting the live shows which for the first time ever are coming from the Hammersmith Apollo while Ant steps down from his TV commitments for now.
