Apprentice candidate Gary Poulton was arrested after a 'disturbance' at the home he shares with his partner and young daughter.

The TV star was questioned by police in a 4am visit, taken to a police station and arrested, according to The Sun, but was later released without charge.

The candidate, who describes himself as a 'family man' in his Twitter bio, denies being arrested or taken into custody.

In a statement, he said: "I was not arrested, nor taken into police custody. While the police did visit my parents' house I co-operated with them fully and they moved on without further action."

But a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and taken to Chelmsley Wood station.

"He was later released without charge."

It comes after Gary's co-star Selina Waterman-Smith got into hot water with Apprentice bosses after 'pushing' Charleine Wayn following a particularly heated boardroom session.
