Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's relationship was an incredible whirlwind of passion - they'd gotten together, become engaged and split all in the space of four months. Although it may have been a short-lived romance, Ariana was spurred on to write 'thank u, next', about Pete and her other ex-boyfriends.

The 25-year-old even included an apology to Pete in the incredible music video for the fab new track - which broke records for the amount of times it had been watched in the first 24 hours.

However, Saturday Night Live comedian Pete opened up in a statement today to hit out at those who had been sending him online abuse in the wake of the split, taking to Instagram to post the letter.

He wrote, 'I've kept my mouth shut. Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything. I'm trying to understand how when something happens to a guy, the whole entire world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference,' going on to reveal that he'd felt suicidal at points.

Ariana has now spoken out about Pete's statement, sharing a screenshot of his message and posting it to her Instagram Story with her own comment. She wrote, 'I know you already know this but I feel I need to remind my fans to please be gentler with others.'

Herself. YAAAS.

In thank u, next Ariana serves some unapologetic feminism as she claims she's now in a relationship with herself. YAS, queen.

She continued, 'I really don't endorse anything but forgiveness and positivity. I care deeply about Pete and his health. I'm asking you to please be gentler with others, even on the internet. I've learned through my own mistakes not to be reactive on socials so I do understand, but you truly don't know what anybody is experiencing ever.

'Regardless of what they choose to display on social media or how they may appear in public. I can promise you that. So please let whatever point you're trying to make, go. I will always have irrevocable love for him and if you've gotten any other impression from my recent work, you might have missed the point. 🖤' [sic]
