Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have announced they are breaking up after just two years of marriage.
The Girlfriend singer confirmed the split on Instagram, where she posted a picture of the couple in happier times alongside this statement:
"It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today.
"Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments.
"We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other.
"To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support."
Chad, the lead singer of Nickelback, met Avril while they were working together – he was producing some of her music, which some have speculated could be behind the split.
A source told E! back in September last year that the couple were fighting lots.
"The main issue is this: When they met, they were in work mode. They were doing a collaboration and that's where the attraction stemmed from," the unnamed insider added.
Avril, who at 30 is ten years younger than Chad, has also had to deal with a debilitating bout of Lyme disease, which she opened up about in June.
"I really just want to go out there and truly do what I love. So I'm so excited for life after this," she said at the time.
Her and Chad's sad news comes just after Avril's first husband, Deryck Whibley, got married to model Ariana Cooper at the weekend.
