Ben Cohen’s estranged wife Abby Cohen has told friends she’s moving on after a “year of great sadness”, shortly before Ben’s new partner Kristina Rihanoff announced her pregnancy in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
Taking to Twitter on New Year’s Eve, Abby tweeted a long message that spoke about the difficulty of her last few months and made several veiled jibes at her rugby ace husband of 12 years.
“I lost what I thought was the most important person to me and my life, only to make me realise that actually, I haven’t,” Abby, who is the mother of Ben’s twin daughters, said in the note.
“It makes me sad at how my life has been thrown into the public eye [these] past few years, my best friend and friends were dragged in, all because it’s entertainment for those who are interested in gossip…”
Abby went on: “I chose not to sell my story for the sake of my kids and being the bigger person, and not to make money from someone else’s selfishness. It’s just not in my interest to do that.”
She finished by saying her “patch of grass is far greener than it’s ever been” and said she was “keeping it that way”.
Ben and Kristina have always insisted they did not get together until after Ben’s marriage was over, but that hasn’t stopped Abby branding Kristina a “f**king Russian dancer” in the past.
The unborn child will be Kristina’s first, after she split from ex-partner Joe Calzaghe in 2013 because he didn’t want marriage or children with her.
