Ben Haenow (almost) proposes to girlfriend Jessica Jones live on TV

You know that feeling when you’re on top of the world and you don’t really want to get off? Well, that’s probably how Ben Haenow feels after winning The X Factor last night.

The singer could be forgiven for doing a few impulsive things after getting just one hour’s sleep following the final and, you know, just generally buzzing off the fact all his dreams have come true.

His girlfriend Jessica Jones almost found herself the subject of one of these, err, impulses after he very nearly proposed to her live on television this morning.

Appearing Good Morning Britain, host Susanna Reid asked if he would be proposing soon and if he was under pressure to do so from Jessica.

He said: “Yeah, my missus has practically cut her finger off and left it round the house!”

Oh, wow! What says love more than a bloody finger?

He continued: “Yes, I love her to bits and we’ve been together a very, very long time.”

Urging him to pop the question live on television, Susanna’s co-host Ben Shepherd said: “Now is the perfect opportunity for you the day after – here’s camera four.”

Looking down the camera, Ben said: “Jess, will you… put the coffee on.”

Damn it!
