Ben Haenow’s love life suffered during X Factor as he was not allowed, err, special time with his girlfriend

Those X Factor stars really have to put in some hard graft if they want to do well on the show.

But there's something Simon Cowell does not tell the contestants in the audition room when they sing their heart out for the first time - they have to put their, ahem, love lives on hold for months.

Winner Ben Haenow struggled during his time in the X Factor house as he was not allowed any, shall we say, conjugal visits from girlfriend Jessica Jones.

He told The Sun: "You're not allowed people to come and see you in the X Factor house. It is literally a case of no visitors.

"It was tough, our love life suffered. Occasionally we'd get a free weekend to meet up and enjoy ourselves. "

The singer is planning on making up for it now, though, and is hoping the pair will get their own little love nest soon.

He said: "I would not want to just go and get a place and have her stay there on her own.

"She is going to stay with her parents for a little while and then a we'll see from there."
