There are perks of being a national treasure, star of one of the most-loved TV shows and generally pretty handsome. For Benedict Cumberbatch being stalked isn’t one of them.
The Sherlock star as apparently increased his security after a very keen fan visited the home he shares with wife Sophie and their baby twice. The fan left gifts of red ribbons at the property.
The ribbons were left on two separate occasions and at two different locations. One was tied to a window and the other tied to the family car. Creepy much?
Benedict is currently starring in the stage production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet at the Barbican. Security there has also had a beefing just in case the fan tries to make contact with the actor or his possessions.
A source close to the star has said, "Benedict wants to be safe rather than sorry. He’s spoken to the police and now he’s just making sure every precaution has been taken. He’s also had a quiet word with the theatre management."
