Drag dance act Aaron Carty told us it costs him almost £1,000 a month to look like Beyoncé – and that he even lost his toenail in the process!

The ex-policeman, who surprised The Britain’s Got Talent judges with his feminine dancing skills, revealed the incident happened a year ago while he was holidaying with mates in Spain. He decided to do a drag night as a joke but ended up dancing on stage to Beyoncé in front of a whopping 10,000 people.

“I lost the little toenail of my left foot that night,” says Aaron, 29. “I needed a few pints afterwards because of the pain.”

The self-proclaimed party boy described himself as “quite an enthusiastic and energetic dancer” and claimed he chose to impersonate Beyoncé because of his bum and legs.

“It’s hard work looking like Bey,” admitted the Londoner. “I cycle 100 miles a week and I go to the gym four times a week.

“You’ve gotta keep that bum and ass up – you cannot let that sag!” As a fan, he wants the star to see him as Aaron before Beyoncé, and a celebration of her work. His outfits are made by… surprise his very own nan.

The cheeky super-gran Margaret, 67, had told Aaron he’d “need to show a little bit of bum” at his audition.

“But all of my bum is out! I didn’t get a choice in the matter,” said the 29-year-old. Aaron – “a sole believer of no padding” – finds underwear challenging but nevertheless promises the next performance to be “explosive”.

He also praised Bruce Jenner’s gender reassignment as “an incredibly brave thing”. Agreed!
