Billie Piper and her husband Laurence Fox have split after nine years of marriage and two sons together.

The announcement was made on Laurence's official Facebook page, with a post that read:

Laurence Fox and Billie Piper have separated. No third parties are involved. For the sake of our family we request and appeal for space and privacy at this time

Blimey.

The couple were married in 2007 and have since had two boys – Winston, seven, and three-year-old Eugene – together.

They met on the set of the stage play Treats, in which they both performed in 2006, before tying the knot on New Year's Eve the following year.

When speaking about their honeymoon, Laurence, 37, revealed that after a "drunken lunch" they both went off to a tattoo parlour in Mexico to get a lasting reminder of their nuptials.

It was Billie's second marriage – she had also tied the knot with Chris Evans in a Las Vegas ceremony in 2001, after just six months of dating. But with a 16-year age gap, they realised they weren't right for each other and separated in 2004.

Even last month, Billie and Laurence were still acting couple-y on Twitter, with Billie writing supportive messages about her husband's new record, and Laurence wishing his wife a happy anniversary on 31 December.

But she's already done the whole new-me-new-hair thing - check out her brand new tresses.
