Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna may still be a fairly new couple – at least in celebrity terms – but they've already learnt from the masters their craft of announcing the best news at opportune moments.

We're talking, of course, about the rest of the Kardashian family, who have been revealing their secrets and most private moments via the medium of their reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

So it was only natural that Rob and Chyna were going to use their very own TV programme to broadcast the sex of their unborn baby, which they did last night on E!'s first episode of Rob & Chyna.

Cameras followed the pair to Chyna's gynaecologist, who listened to Rob saying: "I'm pretty nervous .... I'm excited. I really want a boy."

But the doctor said, "You are having a girl", and Chyna couldn't have been happier.

"Rob, it's a girl!" she told him.

"Oh, that's crazy," he replied, before telling the camera during his solo interview the reason behind him wanting a boy.

"Me wanting to have a boy stems from my relationship with my dad. I'm just happy that the baby's healthy and I am super happy I am having a girl," he added.

But Chyna wasn't too happy with Rob's insistence on telling his family what they were having, revealing after he'd spilled the beans to momager Kris Jenner that they'd actually planned to make it a surprise.

"I'm so confused. Rob and I agreed that we were going to wait and do a cool surprise with the gender reveal, but Rob told his mom," she said.

"I guess that is just the Kardashian family ... talk, talk, talk, talk."

So far, only Rob's sisters Khloe and Kim Kardashian have publicly acknowledged that they'll be having a niece in November, along with Kris.

Kris wrote: "IT'S A GIRL! So happy for Rob and Chyna! Can't wait to welcome this new little love bug to the world."

And Kim tweeted:

N'aww. Congrats, Rob and Chyna.
