Blake Lively has spoken out about why she chose the name 'James' for her newborn daughter.

The actress, who has been killing it on the red carpet promoting her new film The Age of Adaline, appeared on Good Morning America, and shared why she and Ryan Reynolds loved the moniker so much:

“It’s a family name, and I liked having a boy’s name, so I thought I’d pass it on.”

We agree Blake - James is a pretty cool name for a girl. But we've never heard so much hoo ha over a celebrity baby name to be honest.

There was a lot of speculation about Ryan and Blake's baby name before it was officially revealed - with Violet hotly tipped as the name of choice.

But Ryan shot that rumour down in an interview, telling _USA Toda_y:

"That's not the name. I don't want to get into that but I don't know where that came from."

And while we've not seen a picture of little James, Lively did reveal that she looks just like her daddy, Ryan.

"I think she looks like her daddy," Lively noted. "I want a maternity test! ... If not, I'm not sure about this kid... She never left our sight, but..."

We're pretty sure the baby's yours Blake.
