Blake Lively thanks fans after closing lifestyle website Preserve

Blake’s shut down her website after it didn't go to plan

Oh how we’ll miss Blake Lively’s Preserve newsletter dropping into our inboxes. If you don’t know much about Preserve – it’s a lifestyle website, a bit like Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, which tells you everything Blake thinks you should know, from fashion to food. But sadly, Blake’s now closed the website down and yesterday thanked her fans for their support.

“Thank you guys for your support every step of the way in the @preserve_us adventure,” she wrote. “I couldn’t be more grateful. “One day I'll stop wearing so many hats…but ...I'll probably be dead by then, so... I'm just doin' what mama taught me ;) She's my idol. Who's yours? ...#WhyIsThereNoEmojiForSpiceGirlsGirlPowerFingers ?!!!”

Preserve has been going for just over a year but earlier this week she admitted it hadn’t gone down as well as she had hoped.

“We launched the site before it was ready, and it never caught up to its original mission: It’s not making a difference in people’s lives, whether superficially or in a meaningful way,” Blake explained to Vogue.

“And that’s the whole reason I started this company, not just to fluff myself, like, ‘I’m a celebrity! People will care what I have to say!’ It was so never meant to be that, and that kind of became the crutch because it was already up and already running, and it’s hard to build a brand when you’re running full steam ahead—how do you catch up?”

Blake also admitted she’d steeled herself to face her critics in the wake of the announcement.

“[The news will] blow up and I'll look like a jerk and everyone will be really horrible… I mean, champagne problems—thank God these are the things I get to complain about.”

Indeed, Blake.
