Corrie fans: we have good news and bad news.

The good news is that Brian McFadden, the thinking person’s favourite Westlife, has been approached for a Coronation Street role.

The bad news is that he turned it down. Oh, Brian ☹

It’s thought that Brian was approached about the part of Aidan Connor, the cousin of Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) and a bit of a heartthrob.

Totally playing to type then.

Could this have been Brian (left)?

“I did actually get asked to go and have a meeting with Coronation Street about doing a role in it but time wouldn't let it because I was doing* Who's Doing The Dishes* and I had an album coming out," Brian said, breaking our hearts a little bit.

"I couldn't live in Manchester for nine months or whatever it was. I just told them I didn't have the time.

More news!

"I think Shayne Ward got the job," he told The Sun.

Guess the beautiful dream was just not meant to be. This time.

A* Coronation Street* spokesman said: "Everyone who we auditioned for the role of Aidan had acting experience."

But what is this if not acting? Eh?

Acting is happening
