The Britain’s Got Talent auditions arrived in London today, and with every new series – there’s a new way to wind up the boss. Simon Cowell is usually the one playing all the pranks but it seems that winning a National Television Award has given fellow BGT judge David Walliams the courage needed to stand up to Simon.

We caught up with the judges and presenters on the red carpet at The Dominion Theatre this afternoon to find out how the judges are getting along. Fellow judge Amanda Holden, tells us David just can’t put the award down: “David’s very humble about it, he literally is carrying the trophy around everywhere and whenever Simon annoys him he just brings it out and places it on the desk. He’s very modest, humble person but when you get to know him he comes out of his shell.” And even show host Stephen Mulhern says it’s been non-stop.

He told us: “From day one, he brought his National Television Aaward in, and you just go right, here we go, the circus is back in town and he keeps it under his desk. So any time Simon gets out of hand he will bring the award up and there’s nothing anyone can say about it. He’s just non-stop.”

And fellow host Dec added: “The award is constantly under the table and he whips it out at any available opportunity – he whips out his award any time Simon disagrees with David, the award comes out and he tells them, ‘remember I’m the nation’s favourite TV judge’.”

So we asked Simon how he feels about David being a trophy judge, he told us: “I feel a bit like Al Gore when he lost out to Bush, you know, there may have to be a recount. I thought I had stolen it [the trophy] on the night, then it turned up again.”

Never mind Si, there’s always chance of scooping an NTA next year…
