Britney Spears has revealed she's taking extra lessons so she can help her sons with their maths homework.

The pop star told People magazine she's brushing up on her algebra because sons Preston, 9, and Jayden, 8 need her guidance - but she dropped out of ninth grade to pursue stardom.

Apparently Britney also gave up on attaining her GED (a high school diploma) shortly before marrying Kevin Federline - but she's now making up for lost time.

"They go to a really hard school, and this week we had three hours of homework (a night)" she told the magazine.

She added: "Some of it is hard for me. Next year when (Preston) is in fifth grade, he's going to be doing pre-algebra, and I'm taking classes so I know how to do it!"

Britters also added that she rewards her sons for getting good grades - saying that if they "get so many A's, they get one toy a month".

The singer has recently been the subject of engagement rumours, after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her finger while on holiday in Hawaii. She's currently dating producer Charlie Ebersol.
