And they didn't even know it!

What could be so bad that Brooklyn Beckham, *Xtra Factor *presenter Rochelle Humes and TOWIE star Dan Edgar have broken the law?

They used hoverboards. Yes, that's right. They've used that Jetsons-esque, futuristic device and they're not allowed to.

According to an official Metropolitan Special Constables Twitter page the news, and a piece of legislation dating back to 1835, hoverboards are illegal.

The evolution of the infamous Segway is a "personal transportation device" and is deemed "unsafe to ride on the road" and "too dangerous to ride on the pavement".

HOWEVER, if you do have a hoverboard, you know if you've got £2-400 lying around, you *can *ride your dangerous, self-balancing scooter on private property...with the land owners permission of course.

Doesn't look like Dan is on private property and could be in trouble?

This piece of legislation was initially directed to Segways, by actually points out that "self-balancing scooters" are powered vehicles and thus makes them *all *illegal.

Rochelle looks safe, she looks like she's having a hoverboard lesson of some sort.

In an FAO list on The Crown Prosecution website, a question asks: "I have been riding a self-balancing scooter on the public footway (pavement) outside my house, have I committed an offence?"

To which the response is: "Yes. It is an offence under section 72 of the Highway Act 1835 to ride or drive a vehicle on the pavement. It is only an offence under this Act in England and Wales. In Scotland it is an offence under section 129(5) of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984."

Looks like Brooklyn and chums may want to put these away too...
