Yesterday came the happy news that Sir Bruce Forsyth will be presenting the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special. Still, if waiting until December to get a fix of the sunny presenter sounded too tricky, you’ll be pleased to hear you can catch him on screens tonight!

Yep, Brucie, 86, is back to present the BBC Children In Need Appeal show this evening, reuniting with former sidekick Tess Daly. In case you were planning on slumping on the sofa with a huge take-out, it’s best you know now that the show will see four precocious dance juniors compete on the dancefloor. They all look extremely well groomed and talented so we don't blame you if watching them provokes a deep existential crisis about the fact that you spent your entire childhood on a skateboard in a lane.

Anyhow, the juniors will compete in teams with the show’s professionals for the Pudsey glitterball trophy. Team Glitter (wow) is Anton du Beke and Natalie Lowe with juniors Elliot and Mia, while Team Sparkle (double wow) is comprised of Tristan MacManus and Aliona Vilani with juniors Daniel and Ella. Their fates will, of course, be decided by the usual quartet of judges - Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.

And if the team names haven’t well and truly proved that this is going to be quite an - er - upbeat occasion, word on the street is that they'll be performing to classic tunes such as Happy Feet and You Make Me Feel So Young. (If you’re feeling queasy, just repeat the phrase “Children In Need” in your head several times over until your moral conscience returns.)

The BBC Children in Need appeal show is on November 14 on BBC One from 7.30pm.
