One Direction are the boyband of the moment, roaring up the charts both here and in the US and causing girls all over the globe to faint with hysterical longing, but ex-Busted member James Bourne decided against writing some songs for them. Talking exclusively to heatworld at the launch of his hit new West-End musical Loserville last night, James explained that his passion for his onstage project was far too important. "I could have written songs for One Direction, or I could have done Loserville," he explained, adding that the timing wasn't right to do both. James is no stranger to songwriting, having been the main wordsmith in Busted, a long-time collaborator with his old pals McFly, and the man behind the hits from artists such as Pixie Lott and the Backstreet Boys, but Loserville was a real chance for him to try something different. "[With Loserville] I get to be more creative," he told us.

While it may seem barmy to turn down the chance to work in close proximity with the 1D boys (spending time in a small studio with those boys – hello!), we think James' decision to put all his time and energy into Loserville was a good one. Having seen the show last night (you can read our review here), we can confirm that it's brilliant fun, helped in no small way by James' collection of original songs. Asked what his plans were now that Loserville is up and running, James revealed that he's heading into the studio to record a solo album. Does that boy ever rest?!
