Good news, everyone! Caitlyn Jenner will be allowed to keep her Olympic gold medal.
Earlier today the International Olympic Committee confirmed to The Independent that despite the fact Caitlyn did win her gold medal – at the 1976 Olympics in the Decathlon – as a man, it will have no impact on her holding the medal now.
The IOC added that they have “no issue” with Caitlyn’s gender.
The news comes after it was revealed a petition had been created to try and put pressure on the committee to revoke the medal. As we write this, over 10,000 people had signed it.

On the petition, a statement said: “It has recently come to light that gold medalist Bruce Jenner is in fact transgender, and therefore, identifies as a woman. We congratulate Ms Jenner on these new developments and wish her the best.
“However, this creates somewhat of a problem as Ms Jenner (as talented as she is) claims that she has always believed herself to be truly female, and therefore, was in violation of committee rules regarding women competing in men's sports and vice versa.
“We urge Ms Jenner to support the transgender community by giving up the medals earned by competing against the wrong gender.”
The decision to overrule the petition came today and (we presume) the petition will soon disappear into the internet abyss…
