Calvin Harris hasn’t had a particularly quiet time of late, so it was only natural that he’d be asked to join Nicole Scherzinger at Judges Houses on this year’s X Factor.
He’s certainly moved up in the world from that time he crashed the stage at the live shows with a pineapple on his head in 2009.
Anyway, in last night’s episode he was speaking to Louis Tomlinson’s ACTUAL* twin Matt Terry before he did his performance.
Matt and Calvin are in moderately similar situations, given that they’ve both recently had break-ups - and when Matt said he was going to sing She’s Out Of My Life and Nicole made reference to his ex, Calvin asked: “What happened?”
Louis’ twin* replied: "I was in a long-term relationship with my girlfriend and she left me, but that happens."
Calvin retorted: "And now you're on TV!"
We could say the very same about you, Calvin.
Nicole then chimed in with: "That's what I'm talking about! And now she's like daaang!"
And Matt said (looking over at Calvin, may we add): "It happens to all of us – it's life right?"
Calvin then said: "yeah of course!"
And when he started singing we (and the whole of Twitter, it seems) couldn’t help but notice Calvin looking really emotional by the performance.
Was he thinking about Taylor Swift? Was he just so moved by Matt’s resemblance to Louis Tomlinson? Or just simply thinking this was nowhere near as fun as his pineapple X Factor appearance.
Who can be sure?
Twitter predictably exploded, with one saying: Honestly thought Calvin Harris was gonna say "same' when he was saying about his girlfriend dumping him,” and another: “Love how Calvin Harris was basically crying! Probs about Taylor Swift.”
*Not actual in any way at all.
