We honestly didn't think we'd ever place dramz and The Great British Bake Off in the same sentence, but then 2016 happened.
This week has brought crushing blow after crushing blow after crushing blow (there's been three crushing blows, basically).
First, it was announced that the show was being RIPPED from the channel that bore and raised it, the BBC.
Then, it was revealed that MEL GIEDROYC AND SUE PERKINS HAD QUIT, meaning that this series will be their last ever run of the show.
We cried.
AND THEN SELASI GBMORMITTAH CASUALLY MENTIONED HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND AND WE JUST GAVE UP WITH LIFE.
Now, lipstick adorned contestant Candice Brown has delivered possibly the weirdest and most surprising blow of all – she's said that Mary Berry SLAPPED HER.
Obviously this is definitely a joke (we hope…), and it was actually her shutting down some horrid troll who said she'd like to see it happen.
Why, troll, WHY?
Some twit wrote: "I'd love to see Mary slap that smug look off Candice's face #GBBO", and Candice responded: "If you watch next week she actually does"
LOLOLOL.
The whole nation (literally, the whole nation) is currently theorizing about who on earth could possibly replace Mel and Sue when the show moves to Channel 4 next year. Our least favourite of these theories is the below about David Cameron.
But the more sensible suggestions put forward by the bookies are pretty good, and include Jo Brand, Jennifer Saunders and Davina McCall.
We can see it now – “Bakers, you are live on Channel 4 – please do not swear.”
That would be kind of great actually.
Jo Brand, who hosts the spin off show An Extra Slice, is favourite at 6/1. Jennifer Saunders is 8/1, Sarah Millican is 12/1, and Ed Byrne is 16/1.
Other names tipped include: Emma Willis, Clare Balding, Gino D’Acampo and Rhod Gilbert.
