Remember back in 1971 when that film came out about a boy called Charlie who went to a big old chocolate factory to visit its wacky owner, Willy Wonka. We can’t quite remember what it was called. The Chocolate Factory And Charlie? No that’s not it. The Factory That Made Chocolate that Charlie Visited? Nope.

Erm…

Oh yeah – Charlie And The Chocolate Factory! That’s the one.

Well the cast have reunited for the Today show after 44 years, and it’s unsurprisingly adorable.

"We think of ourselves as a family," noted Paris Themmen, who played tiny television addict Mike TeeVee. "Maybe a bit of a dysfunctional family.”

Rusty Goffe – who played one of the oompa loompas – added: "It's scary for me, because when we made the movie, they were kids."

"Now look at us!" said Denise Nickerson (Violet Beauregarde).

In the movie, Violet is obsessed with chewing gum. Surprisingly, the actress never tired of having to chew all day (The way that a cow does," as the Oompas sang).

"I was having a ball," she said, but admitted she gave it up "when I returned and had 13 cavities."

Talking about playing spoilt brat, Veronica Salt, Dawn Cole said: "It's fun to be bad and to be encouraged to be bad. Usually your parents are telling you, 'Don't do this. Don't do that.' And we had Mel Stuart, our director, saying, 'Be meaner.'"

So what did Augustus Gloop think of swimming in that delicious-looking chocolate river?

Michael Bollner – who played the greedy guts – admitted that it was in fact just water.

Sad times.
