Don’t get us wrong… Jamie Dornan makes one hell of a Christian Grey. But a little part of us wonders what Charlie Hunnam would have been like as the leading man in Fifty Shades Of Grey.

The Sons Of Anarchy star was all signed up to star in the film, based on EL James’ saucy books, but had to pull out due to other work commitments. And it sounds like he might regret it a bit.

More news!

"It was the worst professional experience of my life," he told V Man.

"It was the most emotionally destructive and difficult thing that I've ever had to deal with professionally. It was heartbreaking."

Charlie backed out of the franchise because of his demanding schedule; he was shooting the final season of Sons Of Anarchy and had committed to Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak at the time.

"I'd given Guillermo my word, over a year before, that I was going to do this film," he admitted.

"[Leaving Fifty Shades] was deeply unpleasant and challenging emotionally. I really, really pride myself on being a professional and a man of keeping my word."

He added: "There was a lot of personal stuff going on in my life that left me on real emotional shaky ground and mentally weak."

Oh, and before you ask, he definitely didn’t back out of the saucy films because of the adult content. He was in Queer As Folk, remember…

"When I was 18 I was getting f**ked in the ass, completely naked on national TV.”

Blimey. Kiss your mother with that mouth, Charlie?
