They've been best friends for nearly two decades, so naturally Cheryl was thrilled when ex-bandmate Kimberley Walsh announced at the end last year she was expecting her third child. However, an insider close to mum-of-one Cheryl tells us she also can't help but feel a little blue about her own situation.
“Cheryl was absolutely over the moon for Kimberley when she found out and couldn’t stop crying,” we’re told. “She knows how much Kimberley loves being a mum and had always wanted more children – it’s the perfect news to end 2020 on a good note. But she can’t help but sometimes wish she had Kimberley’s perfect family set-up, it’s everything she thought she would have when she was younger and she gets upset that it hasn’t worked out as she had planned.”

Since her time in Girls Aloud, Chez has gone on to launch her solo career, she was a judge on The X Factor, moved onto The X Factor US but was sacked three weeks later and had a falling out with Simon Cowell. Despite texting him "f—k you. F—k the UK X Factor. F—k you all. I hate you," she returned to the show four years later. Cheryl has since become a judge on BBC's The Greatest Dancer. Chez was also an ambassador for L'Oreal and in 2020 she starred in the movie Four Kids and It.And after her divorce from Ashley, Cheryl got married to Jean-Bernard Fernandez but they split in 2016. She then dated Liam Payne and despite splitting in 2018 they're now co-parenting their son Bear Grey Payne.

Kimberley was pretty unproblematic in Girls Aloud, although we can't forget when she completely backed Cheryl throwing shade at Nicole Scherzinger. Kimberley also didn't seem keen on the idea of the Pussycat Dolls star launching a solo career.

Post-Girls Aloud, Kimberley climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2009 to raise money for Comic Relief, she has presented on TV and in 2012 she starred on Strictly Come Dancing and came runner up alongside her professional partner Pasha Kovalev. She's also married her long-term partner Justin Scott and they're parents to Bobby and Cole.

Former Girls Aloud star Kimberley, 39, recently revealed that she and husband Justin Scott are set to welcome a sibling for their sons, Bobby, six, and Cole, four. In an interview she said, “For the family, it’s been a bit of light in the distance and something to look towards and get excited about, and plan for.”
Kimberley revealed that after discussing adding to their brood, she and 38-year-old Justin didn’t have to wait too long.
“We chatted throughout the lockdown and said family is everything and we’re not really done, and we’d quite like to add one more to the fold. We’re just lucky it happened quite quickly.”
Admitting that she’d already told Girls Aloud besties Cheryl and Nicola Roberts, Kimberley said, “They’re really excited! I think they both knew I wanted another, and it was on the cards, and just like everybody they said it’s lovely news and something to look forward to next year. Cheryl sends me names quite a lot, randomly,” adding that they were good options for the new – “I’ve banked a few of them.”
Cheryl, 37, has made no secret of wanting a sibling for her three-year-old son, Bear. She admitted last year she was considering using a sperm donor to fall pregnant again, and we’re told she would have loved to have shared a pregnancy journey with Kimberley.
“Bear is the best thing that has ever happened to her and she wouldn’t change him for the world,” our source explains. “But she would love a more traditional family set-up as it can get quite lonely, especially the past year. She was also hoping that her and Kimberley could be pregnant together like last time. Bear and Cole are so close and Cheryl would love it if her next child could be as close to Kimberley’s new baby.”
