EXCITING FILM NEWS CLAXON Chloe Grace Mortez has been announced to star as Ariel in an upcoming remake of The Little Mermaid!
The Kick Ass actress announced the casting on social media writing: "I've been waiting months to tell everyone how excited I am to take on this beautiful journey with Working Title, Universal, and a beautiful script by Richard Curtis.. #TheLittleMermaid !!!! Here we go!!!"
Moretz joins the project, the latest in a line of live-action fairytale remakes, a few months after Sofia Coppola pulled out of directing the project due to - the old Hollywood classic - creative differences.
With Coppola out,* Love Actually*’s Richard Curtis has hopped on board to put his own spin on the fairytale.
If you’ve never seen the very famous Disney version (go watch it now) the story, based on a Hans Christian Andersen's tale, sees a mermaid who wishes to become human after falling in love with a man. This new remake is being made by Universal and it's still unknown which version of the story it will take its inspiration from.
No word on who else will be joining the cast or when filming will begin but as Moretz is currently filming Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising with Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, it could still be a while off.
We’ll just be sitting in our shell bra singing Under The Sea until more news comes through…
