We thought the highlight of our lives was when Tom Hardy read us a bedtime story on CBeebies. That was until we discovered that the BBC is going to be treating us to something even better for their next episode of Bedtime Story - CHRIS EVANS.

Yep, the Captain America star is taking over the baton from hunky Hardy, which can only mean that we're all in for something very, very good.

According to the BBC, on-screen superhero Chris will read the rather fitting book Even Superheroes Have Bad Days, by Shelly Becker and Eda Kaban, "which has lots of fun ideas to help little ones cope when they’re feeling overwhelmed."

In the short clip above, Chris explains that: “Being a superhero can really be tough sometimes. You have good days and bad days, and that’s what tonight’s bedtime story is all about.” Not that this means anything to us though - he could be reading a book in ancient Greek and we would still tune in to listen.

Speaking about his guest appearance, Chris said: “I'm honoured to be the next guest on CBeebies Bedtime Stories which is such a special show. I hope families have as much fun watching as I had reading!” Oh, don't you worry Chris, WE WILL.

The star joins the long list of celebrities who have presented a CBeebies Bedtime Story, including Tom Hardy, Isla Fisher, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Emilia Fox, Damian Lewis, David Tennant, Rosamund Pike, Tim Peake, Nadiya Hussain, Warwick Davis, Derek Jacobi, Maxine Peake, James McAvoy and David Hasselhoff.

Chris will be lulling us all to sleep with his magical story-telling skills on CBeebies at 6.50pm on Wednesday 10 May. BLOCK OUT YOUR DIARIES IMMEDIATELY.

Chris Evans will star in Gifted, which is in cinemas on 16th June.
