After months of speculation it’s been announced that Chris Evans IS to front Top Gear.
Chris is basically taking over telly right now, what with the return of TFI Friday, too.
He said: “I’m thrilled. Top Gear is my favourite programme of all time.”
Chris had initially denied that he was going to present the cult show, but looks like that was strategically-placed lies to put us off the trail.
He tweeted this morning:
Chris is replacing Jeremy Clarkson who was sacked after punching a producer on the show after his steak dinner failed to turn up after a long day’s filming.
We’re guessing that Chris will be making PLENTY of steak puns.
An insider told The Sun: “Contracts were only signed with Chris yesterday afternoon and bosses wanted to rush the announcement out in case it leaked.
“Clarkson was told just before the announcement was made. May and Hammond are definitely not coming back.
“Chris is ‘stage one’ in the process of revamping* Top Gear* and will lead the new series but no co-hosts have been signed up yet. Production of Top Gear is a long process and bosses were keen to get going with the revamp.”
We wonder who the co-hosts will be...
