Comedian Chris Ramsey has spoken out after his wife Rosie suffered a devastating miscarriage earlier this month. Chris and Rosie, who are already parents to two-year-old son Robin, revealed on Instagram three weeks ago that they'd been expecting their second child - but had tragically lost the baby.
Speaking on Lorraine earlier today, Chris opened up about his wife's Blighted Ovum, or 'missed miscarriage', explaining, "We were pregnant, we went for a 12-week scan, and they scanned it and said there was a pregnancy sack with nothing inside. It's like a miscarriage that your body didn't catch."
Chris branded the situation "cruel", revealing that Rosie's body had "thought she was still pregnant" and that the fact that she'd still had a baby bump had convinced the pair to speak out.
He said, "So many people miscarry and no one talks about it, because it was before that 12-week mark when they say don't tell anybody you're pregnant in case something happens.
"Because it all went wrong we can't brush under the carpet. Example was on here and texted me and said it happened me, so many people I know have said it happened to them twice."
Rosie later came on the show, opening up about the experience, "After 20 hours of trying to do it with tablets, it then went to surgery, you don’t expect it at all, it’s just a crazy situation, you kind of went in survival mode, I stayed in cried, ate chocolate, it's hitting you a little bit now."
Baby Centre explain a Blighted Ovum, 'A blighted ovum happens when a fertilised egg (ovum) implants in the womb (uterus), but a baby doesn't grow. The medical term is 'anembryonic pregnancy'. Sadly, when this happens, it results in an early miscarriage.'
