As central figures in the WAG world, Coleen Rooney and Annie Kilner know a thing or two about being the subject of intense scrutiny. And, after heat told you how the women have bonded over their similar experiences, a source now reveals the busy mums are planning the ultimate girls’ getaway to kick back and unwind.
Our insider says, ‘Coleen and Annie have been speaking about going on holiday for a while, but the timing has never been right. Annie hasn’t felt comfortable leaving baby Rezon for long periods just yet, while Coleen was very mindful that she would be spending a lot of time away from her boys when she went into the I’m A Celebrity jungle. But this year, they have promised to go on a girlie break where they can just forget about their marital issues and being mums, and let their hair down.’
Coleen, 38, who is married to retired England footballing ace Wayne, 39, and Annie, 32 – who appears to be giving husband Kyle Walker, 34, another chance after his indiscretions – have been friends for years. They have been pictured hitting the gym together and going on coffee dates in Cheshire, where they both live, and we previously reported Coleen has been a shoulder for Annie to cry on in the wake of her marital drama. Last January, Kyle was revealed to be the father of influencer Lauryn Goodman’s daughter Kinara, who was born in June 2023. The bombshell revelation coincided with Annie’s fourth pregnancy – she and Kyle are parents to Roman, 13, Riaan, nine, Reign, seven, and Rezon, nine months – and came almost four years after Lauryn welcomed son Kairo with the sportsman, following a brief fling when he was on a break from Annie.
Annie – who has been notoriously on and off with Kyle since they got together in their teens – reportedly kicked him out of their family home in Cheshire and served him with divorce papers in October, almost three years after they secretly tied the knot. However, the couple then prompted reconciliation rumours after they spent Christmas together, and Annie was pictured with her wedding ring on. Meanwhile, Coleen and Wayne – who are parents to Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, nine, and Cass, six – had a tricky end to 2024. The ex-Premier League legend went viral when a video of him letting a woman into his plush Devon flat – where he was based for work – circulated online, but he immediately issued a statement denying any wrongdoing and said the footage was edited. Just a day later, Wayne suffered another blow when he was dropped from his managerial position at Plymouth Argyle.
After their turbulent times, our source says Coleen and Annie are already setting the wheels in motion for their trip. The former is no stranger to a fun-filled getaway, having been previously pictured enjoying rosé-fuelled boat trips and sunbathing sessions abroad. And we’re told that wine and relaxation will be very much the focus of this getaway, too.
‘They both know what it’s like to have difficult marriages and be a mum of four boys – it’s not for the faint-hearted. They would both love some sun, so they are hoping to get a few friends together and go wild for a few nights somewhere hot,’ our source says.
And, now that Kyle is set to transfer from Manchester City to Italian side AC Milan with his family in tow, our source adds that Coleen is on hand to advise Annie about the relocation.
‘The girls need to work out a few days that suit them both to go away, especially now Annie has all this upheaval with Kyle’s move,’ we’re told.
‘Coleen knows how hard a move overseas can be, but says Annie will be better prepared because it’s in Europe, so she is still close to friends and family who can come over. Coleen thinks this will be a great move, as Kyle can just concentrate on his football and family, and Annie doesn’t have to worry about the gossip.’
