Coleen Rooney isn’t one to hog the spotlight. In fact, she’s hoping to share it with fellow WAG and close friend Annie Kilner, who’s keen to shake off her ‘wronged wife’ image following husband Kyle Walker’s double love-child scandal.
Coleen has had huge success on TV over the past couple of years, thanks to her turn on I’m A Celebrity, and her 2023 Disney+ docuseries The Real Wagatha Story. And we’re told that, as filming kicks off for her new Disney+ fly-on-the-wall reality show with husband Wayne and their boys, Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six, Coleen is keen to get Annie involved.
‘Filming for the new Disney series starts soon, and while the main focus will be Coleen’s life with Wayne and their sons, the producers want to widen the scope a bit to look at her life away outside of her family,’ an insider tells heat. ‘They think having friends like Annie involved will generate even more interest, so they’re trying to persuade her to get on board.’
Coleen, 38, and Annie, 33 – who has four sons with husband Kyle – have been close pals for years, and the pair were recently seen enjoying a girls’ lunch together. Earlier this year, Annie was also pictured in Dubai with Wayne, 39, as the former England ace coached a children’s football camp, which Annie’s son attended.
After years of friendship, we’re told Coleen – who tied the knot with Wayne in 2008 – is keen to show the world who Annie really is. Our source says, ‘Annie and Coleen are close, and she knows Annie would like to do more TV work, and she thinks her new show could be the perfect launchpad for her. Doing the odd scene with Coleen would help her get used to the cameras, and it would also give viewers the opportunity to get to know Annie better. It’s a win-win , as Annie would bring publicity for the show, too. Annie is quite shy, but Coleen has helped her boost her confidence over the past few years. Annie looks up to her a lot, and Coleen knows it would be a great opportunity for both of them.’
This wouldn’t be Annie’s first TV gig. She briefly appeared on an episode of The Real Housewives Of Cheshire in 2019. heat also reported that, although she allegedly turned down a £750,000 offer to do Celebrity Big Brother, she would consider I’m A Celeb – and maybe even her own series. ‘Annie has seen how well Coleen came across in the jungle and all the opportunities that have come her way. ITV also want to give Annie her own reality show,’ a source told us at the time.
It’s no wonder people want to see more of Annie given her complicated marital status with Kyle, 34. The childhood sweethearts – who married in 2021 – experienced a rough patch last January, when it was revealed Kyle had fathered a second child – daughter Kinara, who was born in June 2023 – with influencer Lauryn Goodman, 34. This was just four years after he fathered Lauryn’s first child, son Kairo, while he and Annie were on a break.
Since Annie reportedly served Kyle with divorce papers last October, he’s been trying to make amends with his wife. He signed for Italian football team AC Milan earlier this year, reportedly in the hope the move could give them a fresh start. But last month, after he was pictured partying with two mystery women in Italy, heat reported a reunion is off the cards for the time being.
While Annie was later seen with Kyle back in Cheshire, where she lives, she’s recently made a series of cryptic digs on social media, seemingly aimed at him. And on Mother’s Day, she posted snaps of her holidaying in Dubai with sons Roman, 13, Riaan, eight, Reign, six and one-year-old Rezon, while Kyle was noticeably absent. So, now could be the perfect time to give her side of the story.
Our insider says, ‘Annie has always been quite private, but everyone seems to have an opinion about her and the situation with Kyle. A TV show could be a good way for her to control her narrative.’
