There’s nothing like a year-long legal battle with a former friend – culminating in a million-pound court case – to knock your confidence. But Coleen Rooney is taking action to tackle her insecurities. Friends say she has hired a hypnotherapist to help “toughen her up” as her case against fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy finally comes to a head and they prepare to face off in front of a judge…
“It’s no secret that Coleen has struggled with her confidence over the years,” says an insider close to the 34-year-old mum to Kai, 11, Klay, seven, Kit, four, and two-year-old Cass. “But things have got worse and worse as the trial date got closer. She’s been freaking out about giving evidence, what she might be asked, and – of course – actually facing Becky and her lawyers.
She’s never had to do anything like this before and it’s caused her more than a few sleepless nights. The pressure got too much, which is why Coleen decided to do something about it. She enlisted a hypnotherapist to help make her more stoic and calm under pressure. She wants to be an ice queen when she gets up on that stand, able to withstand anything she might hear from Becky or the public. Coleen sees it as preparing herself for battle. Hypnosis can be a very powerful tool for targeting low self-esteem and insecurities, which is what Coleen really wants and needs.”
As heat told you last week, the WAG war courtroom showdown is officially – finally – kicking off, with the first court date taking place this week on 19 November. Neither Coleen nor Becky has to appear – this preliminary hearing is for the lawyers on each side to set out their cases – but it has been said that Coleen is keen to attend.

It’s been over a year now since the internet lit up with talk of “Wagatha Christie”, after Coleen claimed on Instagram that “it’s…… Rebekah Vardy’s account” who had been leaking stories about her.
Since then, peace talks have broken down a bunch of times, with Dancing On Ice star Rebekah, 38, recently admitting, “We tried to sort things out amicably, it just didn’t work.” And now legal action has begun, Coleen’s friends say she’s bracing herself for the worst. We’re told, “Coleen has tried everything to get this to go away. They tried settling out of court and reasoning with Becky face-to-face but nothing seems to work. So now she’s just trying to prepare for anything. She fears Becky will go low in her plan of attack with her legal team, so she needs to be ready.
She wants to be able to walk into the courtroom as a new woman – unafraid of anything that might get thrown at her. She’s not going to back down and knows her legal team will prepare do everything to put her case as well as possible.”
But sources add that Coleen’s hypnotherapy isn’t only about coping with her court case, she’s also hoping to work on issues around her troubled 12-year marriage to footballer Wayne Rooney. “Coleen knows her confidence issues are also down to years of having to defend Wayne,” says heat’s insider. “It’s made her shy of the media spotlight, as well as overly defensive and paranoid at times. Whatever happens next, the hypnotherapy is helping build up her self-confidence, and that’s great. She’s already feeling a lot braver and more secure. She’s ready for her time in court with Becky.”
