The Rooneys are having a real moment. Fresh from having an ‘amazing time’ on their wild holiday with friends in Ibiza, they’re back in the UK filming their Disney+ reality show, which promises to show the couple ‘as we’ve never seen them before’.
And – with Wayne fully on board with the project after he agreed to take a step away from his career as a football manager – a source tells heat that Coleen sees this as their chance for them to become the new power couple.
Having struggled to make his mark as a manager – he lost two jobs last year, most recently Plymouth Argyle after just seven months – Wayne was reported to have turned down an offer to manage non-league club Macclesfield (with the job eventually going to his younger brother John) in order to concentrate on ‘media opportunities’. And what better opportunity than a reality show on a major streaming platform?

Our insider says, ‘Coleen sees this new Disney show as the rebranding of the Rooneys and she is taking complete control of it. Being on I’m A Celeb last year gave her so much more confidence. She wants her and Wayne to be seen in the same way as couples like Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch, and Victoria and David Beckham.’
And it seems Coleen has persuaded Wayne that this new ‘power move’ will help them save their marriage, after years of ups and downs, thanks to his drunken escapades with other women. We’re told, ‘Financially, Wayne doesn’t need another manager’s job, which just brings a lot of stress and takes him away from home. Coleen wants him to focus on their marriage and the family.’
The Rooneys will offer ‘unprecedented access’ to the couple and their sons, Kai, 15, Klay, 12, Kit, eight, and Cass, six. The ten-part docuseries will follow Coleen as she ‘navigates new entrepreneurial endeavours, while Wayne swaps training for the school run’.

In the noughties, Coleen, carved out a modest career in the spotlight, releasing a workout DVD and making the ITV series Coleen’s Real Women. But since she started a family, her career has been on the backburner – until I’m A Celebrity last year, which saw her finish as runner- up. Before that, she made the Disney+ documentary The Real Wagatha Story in 2023, which followed her infamous legal battle with fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy.
Wayne, 39, is also no slouch when it comes to being on-screen, having starred in his wife’s documentary and his own Amazon Prime Video 2022 docuseries Rooney. On top of that, he’s been working as a football pundit.
‘Wayne used to hate being in front of the camera, but he’s more comfortable with it now and the Disney film crew have just become a part of their lives,’ says our source. ‘He’s mainly doing this for Coleen, but he’s still excited to show people how he is as a family man.’

The insider adds that Coleen sees the reality show as a new chapter in their lives. ‘This is just the start for her,’ we’re told. ‘They’re both 40 in the next year and she wants them to be taken seriously – she sees this as a complete fresh start. She doesn’t want any more talk about Wayne’s bad behaviour or Wagatha Christie – that’s in the past.’
Coleen and Wayne, have been together since they were teenagers and have had a notoriously rocky relationship over the years, but they seem more loved-up than ever now that Wayne has put his management ambitions on hold and is back living at the family home full-time.
Our insider says, ‘They’re being very open on their show – Coleen knows they have to give viewers an unfiltered look into their world for it to be a success. She accepts that eventually Wayne may want to go back into management and that could mean more time apart, but for now she likes Wayne being at home – they’re having fun and trying new things.’
