Coleen Rooney’s summer plans could be completely ruined, as her husband Wayne Rooney looks set to be spending weeks of it away working in Germany. We’ve been told that Wayne has been approached to join the football punditry team for the 2024 Euros, which England and France are currently joint favourites to win.

Coleen had her heart set on kicking off the summer with family trips and days out with Wayne, but we’re told, “This opportunity would mean Wayne spending a lot of time away in Germany. It’s a dream job for him to just spend the summer talking about and watching football, but Coleen isn’t impressed.

“She doesn’t particularly want to fly off to Germany before the summer holidays start, but she knows the boys would love it, so she’s said she’d try and go out for a game or two. But it really complicates things with the kids and school holidays, so she doesn’t know what to tell Wayne."

WAG Coleen – who has sons Kai, 14, Klay, ten, Kit, eight and six-year-old Cass with Wayne – knows all too well how her husband’s football commitments can impact the rest of the family. When the footballer signed for American side D.C. United in 2018, the Rooneys uprooted to Washington, leaving Coleen, 38, grappling with homesickness. But since Wayne’s managerial career has not picked up after being
sacked from Birmingham City at the beginning of the year, we’re told Coleen was banking on this being a summer not dictated by Wayne’s career.

“Coleen’s always had to fit stuff around Wayne’s football season. This was the first time since she can remember that he had no football commitments and they could do whatever they liked,” says our insider.

“Now, she feels she’s still having to put his career first.”

Wayne, 38, has been spending a lot of time with fellow former pro footballer and pundit Rio Ferdinand of late, with the pair publicly weighing in on England’s chances this summer. And now our source says that, despite her plans being up in the air, Coleen does see some positives in Wayne going to Germany.

We’re told, “Wayne has impressed bosses with his punditry. It would be good for him to have a focus and a job, as Coleen knows what he can get like when he’s bored and doesn’t have a routine. She just wonders when football won’t take over her life, especially as Kai has set his sights on becoming a professional player.

"She just wants Wayne to put her and the boys first for once, instead of football always having to be the priority.”
