We’ve sat through some weird old films in our time, A Clockwork Orange, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Babe: Pig in the City, but Colin Farrell’s latest may just take the biscuit.
Or should that be the bisque? We’re not even sorry.
The Lobster is set in a dystopian future where, according to the rules of mysterious overlords The City, single people are sent to The Hotel.
Watched over by Olivia Coleman, our queen, they have 45 days to find a mate or be turned into an animal of their choice.
Colin’s character chooses a lobster, for reasons that will presumably become clear in the film.
If you had to become an animal, dear reader, what animal would you choose? We’d become Tom Hardy’s dog.

The film has already picked up an impressive three awards at the 2015 Cannes film festival: the Jury prize, Palm Dog Award, and Queer Palm, but M People won the Mercury Music Prize in 1994 so it doesn’t pay to put too much faith in awards.
However, we have a good feeling about The Lobster.
Here is the trailer. It is delightfully weird. The Lobster is due out on 16 October.
