Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has revealed that Strictly Come Dancing will feature same sex couples “this year or next year”.
Back in November, Robin Winsor and Aljaz Skorjanec were praised by fans of the BBC1 show for being the first same sex couple to take to the dancefloor during a ‘Cops and Robbers’ performance.
“There were two couples of girls and two couples of boys,” Robin wrote in his column for the Mirror. “Had no-one actually brought up that it was a same-sex dance, I don’t think anyone would have noticed.”
The dancer previously spoke out in support of having same sex couples on the show, which has been criticised before for not already featuring this.
He told the Daily Star: “I’m not sure if the British public are ready for it on the main show, but I think it would be a good idea to do it on a Children in Need special or the Christmas show,” he told the Daily Star.
“It would be a good way to test the waters. Then, if the public love it, why not go all out and do it for a full series? I’m up for anything.”
So are we. Great move, SCD.
