Daniel Radcliffe clears up those masturbation rumours: ‘I was not w*nking during Harry Potter filming’

It’s the one question that always seems to come up in interviews with Daniel Radcliffe: Did you masturbate on set? A weird one, we know, but after giving an interview with _Playbo_y in October, poor old Dan’s been trying to clear up the rumours ever since.

This is the second time he’s had to deny he was having some, erm, personal time on set. And by the sounds of the frustration in his voice, he’s getting a bit tired of talking about it.

“Can you make this clear for me: I was not w_nking during filming of Potter – I managed to restrain myself until I got home,” Dan told_ NME*.

When asked about the Playboy question, he replied: “It’s frustrating when you tell a story and say, ‘Yes, I w*nked a lot when I was a teenager,’ but clearly I didn’t mean on set.”

If you’re wondering, this is the question from Playboy: “You spent all your teenage years making the Harry Potter movies. For most teenage boys, their lives revolve around finding a chance to masturbate. Is there time for that on a movie set?”

And this is how Dan answered it: “I was like every other teenager in that sense. My favourite line about masturbation is Louis C.K.'s, something like 'I found out about it when I was 11, and I didn't skip a day'.​ ​I think I started very early - before my teens. But not when I was on set.​

He added: “​I wasn't going, ‘When is Alan Rickman [Professor Snape] going to nail this scene so I can run back to my trailer?’ There's another feeling, again perfectly described by Louis C.K.; that fear just after you've jerked off that everyone knows what you did. ​It would have been embarrassing to walk back on set and look the dignitaries of British acting royalty in the eye, knowing what I'd been doing.​”
