Rugby player Danny Cipriani has been in trouble with the law – he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

He was breathalysed after his Mercedes hit a taxi in west London. He was then arrested and taken to Fulham police station.

12 hours prior to this Danny was celebrating winning Man Of The Match after England thrashed the Barbarians.

(We’re talking like we know loads about this when it comes to rugby, but we actually just had to look up who the Barbarians are. Apparently they’re a team formed of different nations coming together “by invitation”).

An insider who was at the crash told The Sun:

“It was the early hours and the road was quiet. [Taxi driver] Mr Muhammad was driving along normally when he saw the Mercedes coming from the opposite direction. The car was bumping due to acceleration. It was coming towards him.

“If Mr Muhammad had not swerved to the left into a bus lane it would have been a head-on crash.

“He was very shocked and shaken. Mr Cipriani got out of the car and was shouting. His car had two flat tyres from the impact.”

The reported crash means that Danny could miss England’s Rugby World Cup opening warm-up match against France in August.

The Rubgy Football Union have stated that they will wait until the outcome of the investigation to make any decisions, however.
